Our October Festivities

This is a very belated post, but I just wasn't able to sit down at the computer before now.  Sleepless nights and short naps have been a frequent thing around here lately, but I am happy to report that last night, I was actually able to sleep in my very own bed for the ENTIRE night!  Woo Hoo!  Both Ayden and Rylee were asleep by 7:15 last night and slept in till 6:00 this morning.  It was glorious!

We had our very first trip to the pumpkin patch this year!  We had a lot of fun, but we also decided that we won't be doing something like that without taking naps first for a very long time.  Rylee did great, but Ayden ended up being very difficult and having a hard time.  It might have just been that day, or it might have just been all the stimulation of something new, but boy oh boy, he was hard to handle at times.  He turns into a little big bear when he gets too tired or too hungry, and I think we pushed it too long before feeding him and we were definitely past their nap time by the time we left.  We got there around 10:00 in the morning and stayed till about 1:00.  Ayden had a great time, but pretty much threw a grand ol' temper tantrum whenever we "made" him do something he didn't want to, like when we made him stop playing in the mud puddle when the tractor arrived for our hay ride.  Or when we made him follow the path through the corn maze.  Or when we wouldn't let him destroy some of the decorations.  Rylee just went with the flow of everything.

"It's not too heavy, Mom."

Cute little Rylee Bug

He wanted to take the fake pumpkin decorations with us.
Their favorite part of the entire day!

"This pumpkin looks good.  I think I'll eat it!"

Ayden loved pulling the cart for our pumpkins.

Feeding the goats.

Carving our pumpkins went about as well as I expected.  They were interested for a very short time span.  They enjoyed digging the seeds out for about a minute, and they loved "drawing" on the pumpkins before we carved them.

Look at her big ol' milk belly!  For such a petite little thing, she's got a great baby belly.  Too bad those bellies don't look as cute on adults!  lol

Such a great helper

Trying to eat the pumpkin again.

Taking her turn to draw on the pumpkin.

Ayden's turn!  Rylee had to supervise.

Pretend you don't see all the toys/blankets scattered in the living room!

Ayden and Rylee had their very first Halloween party at the Community Playgroup we go to twice a week.  They really don't understand the whole dress up thing yet, but they were the cutest Batman and Robin I've ever seen!  I took several pictures, and I'd love to post the group photo of all the kids, but I don't think I should out of respect for the other parents and their kids.  Here's a few pics from the party though!

Working on a craft project together.

Little musicians.

I couldn't get a good picture of them together!  This was the best I could do.

Halloween was a lot of fun this year, and I imagine it will only get better as Ayden and Rylee get older and come to understand what all the fuss is about.  Despite the pumpkin patch being a challenge for Ayden at times, Tony and I both had an incredible time sharing in that new experience and having that family time together.  I love my little family!

Here's a few more pictures to wrap up the October cuteness we had going on at our house:

Ayden carried this little pumpkin around the house for an entire evening one night!  It was SO ADORABLE!

Cutest little Halloween dress ever!  Of course Rylee makes it even cuter!

    1. Oh, I actually went to bed! In bed by 9:15. I had been awake since 1:09am, literally. When I mentioned sleepless nights and bad nap days, I wasn't kidding! Lol

    2. 2 nights in a row for sleeping!!!! Prayers for continuing this trend!!! Everyone rested means a whole lot more fun for all, if that's possible and patience for Mom and Dad when the little ones have their moments!!! I love you and I thank you so much for allowing me into this blog world of yours! Auntie

  2. YAY for sleeping all night long! Hopefully this sticks!

It really is too bad that big bellies don't look good on adults. I get jealous of all of the things that Izzy gets to wear because she doesn't have to worry about big boobs or her belly sticking out!

Love the Batman and Robin costumes!

    1. Oh, to be so innocent and not worry about how we look! Hopefully our kids can be that innocent for a long time to come. I have no doubt they will continue to look just as cute :)
