Microblog Monday: Impending Time Change

I'm really dreading the upcoming time change and the extended daylight hours. Don't get me wrong, I love that it stays lighter later and isn't dark before 5:00pm. But not only will it still be light outside when the kids go to sleep, potentially messing with their bedtime, it also gets lighter earlier!

Ayden quite frequently wakes up between 5:30-6:00 in the mornings. I'm pretty sure he's waking up because he has to pee. I've been able to get him to go back to bed using the excuse that it's still dark outside, so it's still sleepy time. He generally will then stay in his room another 30-60 minutes.

I'm afraid that will be coming to an end this next weekend. Insert sad face.

  1. I hate when the clocks change. It always messes me (and the littles) up! I always say I like the fall, because of the extra hour of sleep. But I never actually get the extra hour anyway, so meh.
And I'm with you...I have a suuuuper early riser, so lighter out earlier is no bueno.

    1. Ahhh, an hour of extra sleep sure would be nice, wouldn't it? But yeah, it never happens! Lol. Good luck to you as we venture into this next time change! Maybe our kiddos will surprise us???

  3. Oh the time change is a bit of a bugger. Blackout curtains are crucial and so it adjusting bed time 5 days prior. Good luck to both of us!

  4. Maybe get Ayden a toddler clock that shows green when he is allowed to get out of bed? We are thinking about getting Izzy one soon.

    1. I've thought about getting one of those so often in the last year and a half, but I just can't bring myself to spend the money! They aren't cheap! I do hear that they work amazing though.

    1. They generally haven't had problems sleeping even when it's light outside, but I won't be able to use the excuse that it's still dark out anymore! lol. I'm going to need to find a new reason.

  6. DST always throws me off. I just saw the date on the calendar today and sighed. When the twins were little, it made sleep so hard for weeks on end.

    1. I'm really looking forward to spring and warmer weather, but not the time change! Hopefully it won't be long before we are all adjusting and sleeping great again.

  7. Sad face. I have room darkening curtains for Olivia's room, that are dark olive and I think it really helps darken the room for night. I always get thrown off (and now we'll see if O does, but I'm also really, really ready for it to be lighter out longer. I don't do well with all the darkness of winter.

    1. It is pretty dreary having it be dark all the time. I'm just not looking forward to it throwing off our sleep schedules! And it was such an easy excuse to get Ayden to go back to bed. lol
