Microblog Mondays: Baby Books

Let's just say that I have been completely lazy about writing in the baby books.  I started Ayden's a looooonnnnggggg time ago, but hadn't touched them since.  I hadn't even written a single word in Rylee's book.  Ugh.  Mom fail.

Yesterday, Rylee sat up all by herself for the first time.  Both her and Ayden have been doing a tripod sit with one hand down, but she actually sat completely up by herself last night!  So I thought I'd better dig out her baby book so I could write it down because I've been such a complete failure at writing down all the other milestones.

There's a page for documenting each tooth as they come in.  Ayden has 5 teeth already!  I can't remember exactly what day they each came in!  I don't remember the first day they each crawled.  I don't remember the exact day, let alone month, they each rolled over.

I'm gonna need to go back through my blog and Facebook feed to try finding all the milestones as they happened.  I may not have actual dates for them, but I should at least be able to find the month.  At least I am hoping so....

    1. I recommend getting them out and start documenting before it's too late! I'm hoping I can start doing a better job, but who has time?

  2. Oh, girl!!! Give yourself a break!!! Do you know how many if not all of us did not write everything down or just wrote the month down and we only had one! You have TWO!!!! And you do have this beautiful blog to share with them hopefully some day that is so full of Mommy love!!!!! And I do believe that it will help you fill in the blanks when you do have the time to do it as I know you will give it your best shot in completing these books for them! Love and hugs from Auntie

  3. You're doing better than I am, I haven't even purchased a baby book yet! I thought I'd just use my blog as a baby book, but since I'm averaging a post a week (if that,) I don't think that's the best idea.

  4. I haven't been doing a good job keeping track either! Good luck on your search!

  5. It's so hard to keep up with those! I can't write down the dates on the teeth! And I don't really want to recall the shot records!

  6. I totally agree with Auntie - you have their amazing milestones captured in this blog!! I've had ours printed (using Blurb) and viola, personalised baby books including photos. I blogged monthly until my two were about four years old purely for this reason as the baby books I purchased are still blank too... Greetings from Australia.

  8. I'm pretty sure my mom kept a book for me, but then couldn't keep up when my bro/sis (twins) came along. Baby books are great in theory, but I don't know if anyone can really do it!

  9. Depsite having run around like a crazy woman to get the books, I have yet to really write in them. I too will need to go collect up info from scraps of paper and stories on the blog, etc. I really wish I had kept the books.

  10. That's alright...I think its all about enjoying the moment..It's the memories that are important even more than dates ...

  11. My older sis has a really detailed baby book of her firsts for everything, up until about 3 years old when I came along. I have a baby book with my hospital wrist band and a single photo of my parents holding me in the hospital and my sis sitting on the end of the bed with a huge pout on her face. At least you have this blog, and you've written some really great stuff here. Someday when you have a little more time, you could transcribe some of the best parts into a fancy book if you wanted.

  12. I am so glad I am not alone in this! I haven't written a single thing in them. At this point it may be too late. Although, I have an app that I use to keep track of bottles and diapers that I can also record when they hit certain milestones, but I don't think I was consistent with that either. I feel bad about it sometimes (like I'm not keeping up and being super mom), but then realize, I don't think I have a baby book and I can't say I've ever felt like I missed out on not having one. Do what you can, but enjoying the moment is more important than recording it (at least that's what I keep trying to remind myself of)

  13. I have the same issue, and only have one baby! Our books asks about what baby was doing at certain months & I've had to look back at blog posts. But I've stopped doing monthly updates on my blog so even that doesn't save me now!
