"Is That What I Think It Is?"

Whelp, it finally happened today.  For the first time, I had someone ask me about my baby belly.  I was training a client in the weight room, and another gym member came right up to me and slyly asked,

"Is that what I think it is?"

That's all she said.  Hmmm, so I am supposed to guess what she what talking about?  So I grabbed my belly and said,

"You mean this?"

She didn't really confirm or deny, but I answered her anyway and told her yes, I am pregnant.  She then proceeded to ask me when I was due and congratulated me, all while I was counting reps for the guy I was working with at the time.

When the lady left, I told my client I sure was glad I could answer her question with a yes, otherwise that would have been a very awkward conversation!

My belly is definitely starting to show, and I guess I am really, really grateful that it is looking like a baby belly and not just fat!  lol

    1. I've been shopping for maternity clothes for a littl over a month now. It is not a fun experience for me trying to find pants that fit. If only I didn't have such fat thighs.... Sigh :) my mil did find me a few shorts and Capri pants at a garage sale, which I am eternally grateful for.

I know I always say this, but I am just so happy for you. I mean, I am happy for every single one of us who finally achieves their dreams of becoming a Mama, but especially you ;) xo

  5. I was on the other side of this exact situation recently, and I erred on the side of not saying anything. A colleague just returned from mat leave, and when I saw her in the hall I was virtually POSITIVE that she was pregnant AGAIN! But it was always possible she just hadn't lost the weight, so I said nothing. I had to ask someone else if she was in fact pregnant, which she was. Could have been very awkward otherwise!

    1. Oh wow! She just returned from maternity leave and is already pregnant w/ another bump so soon? She is going to be one busy Mama! I would never directly ask someone either. I would be absolutely mortified if I was wrong!

  8. Congrats on being pregnant! I remember when my babies first started to show in the womb, and I was carrying twins. I gained so much girth that I had to get a 5XL shirt in my first year of medical school! It makes a nice night shirt these days.
