Microblog Monday: Our Crappy Morning

So many of my posts these past few months have been about my potty training woes. Well, as a stay-at-home-mom, that seems to be what my life is revolving around these days.

We are entering week 3 of potty training with Ayden. He has been doing very good when naked and goes in on his own almost every time to pee. Poop has been a work in progress, but yesterday he actually did go in all on his own, unprompted, and pooped. Hip hip hooray!

So this morning I relaxed my guard. I went into our master bathroom to take care of my own business. Of course Rylee and Ayden both had to follow. On his way in, Ayden said "sorry Mommy," which I assumed meant he peed a little on the carpet. Sigh. When I asked him if he peed, he said yes. I told him to hurry to the other bathroom and finish.

When I walked out of the bathroom, I discovered that he had actually pooped. It looked like one of them had stepped on it. Bigger sigh. When I got to the living room, I found Ayden covered elbow to toe in poop, and it was all over one of his blankets. I got Ayden to the bathroom and instructed Rylee to stay out of the poop. Thank God she listened. I got him cleaned up the best I could, then got them both into the bathtub. I can't give one a bath without the other. Then I mopped up both the bathroom floor and the entire living room, because don't forget, he had stepped in it...

Once they were out of the bathtub, I turned on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for them, so they would be occupied enough for me to scrub out the blanket and throw it in the wash, and then scrub my bedroom carpet.

It was literally a crappy way to start a Monday morning.

May this please pass for you soon and be beyond this hurdle in your life!!! Love and hugs, Auntie

    1. He does have that "sorry mommy" down for sure and it is very sweet. I was already smiling over the fiasco of today, knowing that it was partly my fault for not watching him more closely. However, I am very much looking forward to this stage being over.

  4. Oh man! Have you thought about taking a break? If you're 3 weeks in and they aren't 90% there, they probably aren't quite ready. Maybe taking off the stress for all of you for a couple of months would be really helpful.

    1. We are actually 7 months in with my daughter and we did take a break with her for awhile. Now she is definitely doing good and only has an occasional accident now. We just started week 3 with Ayden and he is definitely ready. He *mostly* has going pee down (with terrible aim), and poop is just a work in progress. I think we've actually been doing a pretty good job of keeping the process fairly stressfree for the most part. I appreciate your thoughts though!

  5. Oy... so gross. But this too shall pass. I know that is cold comfort when you're in the middle of these potty training woes, but they will one day make it to the bathroom in time.

  6. OH NO!!!!! I tell Izzy all the time not to touch pee and poop and thank god she listens. I think that you do have to remember that this a phase (albeit a shitty one! lol sorry I couldn't help myself).

    1. lol, it definitely is a shitty one! Thanks for the laugh on that one :)
It is a phase, but oh man, this is by far my least favorite phase so far. I don't understand how some people get so lucky and their kids potty train so easily and in such a short time period! Makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong, although I know that all kids are just different.
