Microblog Monday: Extra Hour

These time changes are for the birds. Extra hour you say? Naaaah. And I can't even blame it on the kids. At least not completely. I woke up yesterday at 5:30. The kids woke up at 6:15. This morning I woke up at 4:45. Ayden woke up at 5:00.

Yesterday felt like the longest day of all time. I fed the kids lunch at 10:30, thinking it was 11:30. A couple hours later, after working outside for awhile raking up all the leaves, I looked at the clock on the oven and it read 2:30. Then I remembered I hadn't changed the clock yet, so it was actually only 1:30. Ugh. So looooonnnng until bedtime still! To top it off, we all spent the weekend with major colds, which made the day feel that much longer.

The kids were in bed by 7:00. I fell asleep on the couch at 8:45, got up at 10:00 to take Ayden potty, and then went to bed. But dammit if I didn't wake up at 4:45 not being able to go back to sleep. Didn't matter though, since Ayden woke up at 5:00 anyway. Sigh. Another long day here.

  1. Time changes are not fun! BUT I do love this time of the year...it gets dark sooner & when out raking up leaves all day, you HAVE to quit!! SO MANY LEAVES!!! & they aren't done anywhere close yet! & we have been able to take advantage of the extra hour of sleep! Hopefully you all adjust soon & that you are cold free soon & stay well!! Love & hugs, Aunt D

    1. We have a lot of leaves now too! Although, I'm sure it's not even close to what you have!!! Lucky you for taking advantage of the extra hour of sleep. I'm so disappointed that it's ME not being able to get the extra sleep! haha!

  3. Yeah, the time change is a big old bummer. I actually think it’s way worse in the spring. Fingers crossed we haven’t been too off schedule by it this time, but that could be a fluke, who knows.
Hope things get back to more normal for you soon!!

  4. I'm also over the time change. Given that it is an old tradition meant to benefit farmer communities, I'm ready for day-light savings to go the way of the do-do.

    1. Also considering that not everywhere does the time change at all! How is that even possible? How are we supposed to keep track of what part it is in different parts of the world, if some places don't even participate in Daylight Savings!? I'm ready for it to be done as well.

  5. I am feeling this too! It's pitch black by dinner time which I hate...that means I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. Ugh! I'm also ready for bed around 8:30 and my pups have not adjusted so they want meals at the wrong times... I'm not sure it's actually an improvement - it just feels exhausting!
