Saturday marked 28 weeks for these babies of mine! I can't believe we have made it this far. I feel the babies moving around all the time now. Actually, we can SEE the babies moving around also. Such a cool thing to watch my belly ripple and jump. Hubby actually got to see it the other night too. He was so excited.
I still worry. I don't think that will ever stop. I worry about all the things that could go wrong, because I know that it DOES happen sometimes. My worst fear is to have one of them be delivered stillborn. I know too many people, in real life and in the blogoshere, that have had stillborn babies to not have that be a real fear. I will worry until I get to see them and hold them, and then a whole new set of worries will begin!
Anyway, enough of that! Saturday was also my second baby shower! This time it was with my side of the family and friends. I had a few friends from high school and college that came and it was so great to see them! I can't even begin to express how much it meant to me that so many came to help celebrate my babies.
Saturday also happened to be my Grandma's 80th birthday. After the shower, the men in the family joined us and we had pizza and cake to celebrate her birthday.
Here are a few pictures from the day:
My sister has a good friend that makes cakes and does an incredible job decorating them! |
The entire cake was edible, including the little babies on top. Although nobody ate them.... haha! |
Do you remember me telling you about my cousins announcing their pregnancy via Facebook? The same cousins that announced at Christmas last year that they were pregnant, only to later have a miscarriage? Well, anyway, they just had their baby girl in October. Between my newest niece, my cousin's new baby, and these twins, we are going to have lots of babies running around our family! By the way, I should mention that I am incredibly happy for my cousins and their adorable little girl. I just had a hard time with both of their pregnancy announcements when they happened.

Getting some practice at holding two babies. Oh wait! I'm holding FOUR babies! |
Hubby's turn! |
Hubby is pretty funny about holding babies. When they are newborn, he absolutely has to sit down to hold them. He is petrified of "breaking" them. He loves babies and loves to hold them, but he must be sitting down. Actually, he has recently gotten better and will sometimes stand to hold our niece, but he absolutely refused to stand while holding these two. I think he's going to have to get used to it pretty quickly, because in a few months, he's not going to have a choice!
Feeling very much like a beached whale at the end of the days festivities. |
My adorable 8 week old niece with her mohawk. She was born with a lot of hair, but this is what she has left! Haha! |
All the loot from the shower |
Okay, and now I will close by sharing my 28 week belly pics:
And there it is.... or should I say, there they are? |
I loved all of the pictures!! Your cake was stunning!! I love the scripture 2 Thess 3:16 (NIV) which says, "Now may the Lord of peace himself give me peace at all times and in every way." I pray that God will give you peace so that you may enjoy the rest of your journey that is free from worry. I can't wait to see pictures of your lil ducklings! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the verse. That is definitely a good one.
DeleteAdorable pics!!!! Your shower was such fun and just so anxious to see those 3 great nieces and a great nephew at a family gathering!!!!! How much fun is that going to be!!!!!!!! You are absolutely beautiful and both of you could not have been cuter practicing holding 2 babies at the same time! You are the pro though, holding 4 at one time!!! Prayers, love and hugs!!! Enjoy the next 2 showers and putting away all of the loot!!!! Auntie
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you and M and J were able to be there! It was a special day indeed.
DeleteWow what a beautiful cake! And what a lot of gifts you received :) how exciting!! The baby with the mohawk is absolutely adorable too.... what a happy post!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI LOVE that cake and the babies on it were too cute!! You look amazing I must say :) Such a blessing for all of the babies in your family, it must be such a wonderful time :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a lot of fun to have cousins that will all be around the same age!
DeleteYou look great :) That cake is AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Aubrey!
DeleteYou look awesome! I love the 28 week belly! Those babies are growing! So cool that you can SEE them moving! It was a great idea to combine the shower with grandmas birthday! Looks like you got lots of loot!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is the same about newborns! Totally scared of hurting them! He is going to have to get over that!
Yes, BOTH our husbands will have to learn real fast that babies aren't as breakable as they appear. lol
DeleteYou look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe fears really don't go away, I'm sorry to say. I was nervous up until I heard the kiddo crying (and saw him peeing as they went to weigh him. Little rat! Maybe if he hadn't peed, I could brag I pushed out an even ten pounder. :P)
Anyway, know that you have people you can use as a sounding board. Also try to remember that the ones you read about in the blogosphere, you read about because it happened and you were looking for blogs about TTC and infertility, which is why you also found the loss moms. The odds really are in your favor at this point.
Oh I have no doubts that the fear won't go away, it will just shift to new things! Funny that your son peed so soon after birth! Sounds like he was a big boy!
DeleteYou are adorable! And that cake is incredible. Give my props to the decorator!
ReplyDeleteVery very cute about your hubby's need to sit while holding two babies. Funny thing is, though, that I'm pretty certain I'll be the same way at first. Babies are wiggly! What if one wiggles TOO much and you don't have the other hand ready to act as backup??! It could be disastrous! :) Really, though, I better get used to it. Maybe I can lend a couple of infants to practice with..
Haha! It is a little intimidating thinking about having to manage TWO at ONCE! I didn't mind holding both of them at the same time, but they were PLACED in my arms by someone else. How in the world will we do it by ourselves....
DeleteAmazing cake! Awesome amount of presents!! Adorable twin belly! You look so great, Amber!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer! It really was an awesome day :)
DeleteYou look great, and that cake is amazing.. I can't get over how much you and your sister look alike. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the things that made her the perfect egg donor for us :)
DeleteThat cake is adorable!!! And don't worry, hubby will soon be juggling two at once with ease!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so.... lol
DeleteThat cake! That bump! This post is just too much!
ReplyDeleteHa! You are so funny and I love it :)
DeleteYou look great! Love that bump. I loved it when I could see them move. I couldn't stop staring at my belly. It was fascinating.
ReplyDeleteYour husband will get the hang of juggling two newborns in no time. There is something about it being your baby that makes it easier. I know i was always more nervous holding other people's babies. You also learn how to pick up a baby with one hand while holding the other. Its not always graceful, but it can be done. Though, I am worried about how I will manage it as they keep getting heavier. I should have awesome arm muscles in no time!
