The first full week in January is International Blog Delurking Week. This year it runs from the 1st through the 8th, so you still have 5.5 days left to come out of hiding and leave a comment on any blog(s) you read, even if it's only a simple "I'm here."
I know I shouldn't obsess over who reads my blog, but let's face it, I do! It's not near as much fun writing posts if nobody reads them. And I might just cry if nobody ever commented (okay, I'm exaggerating. Maybe.). I always check back to see how many page views my posts get, and I spend way too much time looking to see if anybody has commented after submitting a new post. I know I should just forget about it and write for myself, but I've made some incredible friends through blogging and I can't help but want to continue those friendships and make new ones. It's also nice to know that other people really do find you interesting; or at the very least, think your babies-turned-toddlers are adorable and worthy of reading about.
I know there are several of you that are regular readers and commenters, but I also know that there are many of you who read and rarely or never comment. Are you a lurker? I want to know you! Please let me know you are here, even if it's only this one time. As I said above, you can keep it simple and leave an "I'm here" in the comment section below, or you can take it a bit further and tell me a bit about yourself (my preferred method). Tell me your favorite book, author, sports team. What are your hobbies? Do you have a blog too? You don't have to answer all those questions (unless you want to). I'm just trying to give you ideas so that maybe you'll leave a comment and let me know you really do like following my family's story.
That's all you have to do to celebrate International Blog Delurking Week!
Now, to answer my own questions:
- My favorite genre of book to read is a good love story/romance novel.
- My favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, Julia Quinn.
- My favorite sports team is the Oregon State Beavers.
- My hobbies
areused to be scrapbooking, reading, going to movies, playing games, but who has time for any of that now. I'd say my only current hobby is blogging. - Obviously I do have a blog (wink, wink).
Lastly, I want to say a HUGE thank you to all my readers. Whether you are a lurker or not, I appreciate you taking the time to read my babbles.
*I also want to give a shout out to Mel at Stirrup Queens for continuing to bring bloggers together and keeping International Blog Delurking Week a thing.
I'm definitely not a lurker but have been titled a comment queen!! I love your blogs and look for them every day and also look to see if you have commented on my comments!!!! I only do that for a day though so I'm not overly obsessed, I don't think! You know I love scrapbooking and love to read books. New favorite authors are Lisa Scottoline (mystery) and Debbie Mason (romance). Today I have spent my day trying to get Christmas put away and I was on a roll but company stopped in for Bob so I kind of disappeared so they could visit. Might still get Christmas put away but not finish my dusting. Another day. And it is snowing big flakes right now and has snowed almost all day long today. Bob is busy getting flashlights ready as he knows the power is going to go off. I like to be more optimistic about the whole situation myself so we will see who wins here!!! Love and hugs and please keep blogging, makes me feel closer!!! Auntie
ReplyDeleteI love Lisa Scottoline too!
DeleteI'm not familiar with either author. I'll have to check them out! I like a good mystery, too. Thank you for always commenting. I look forward reading what you think every time! Hope you get to keep your power tonight!
DeletePower stayed on last night!!! It flickered several times but came back!!! YEAH!!! And it is BEAUTIFUL here this morning!!! When I scrap 2017 there will be PAGES of snow as I have documented our snow the last 3 mornings!!! We have at least 12" of snow now!!! Now, fingers crossed, it let's us make the trek up north for Christmas get together!!!!!!!
DeleteI'm a guilty lurker. :) Mostly 'cause we live in the same general area! And your kids are pretty darn cute.
ReplyDeleteHi Megan! You made me laugh at being a guilty lurker. Lol. I know you've commented a few other times over the past few years. It's so nice to connect with others from the same area! I also have to say, your daughter's pretty cute as well. And wow! You are really talented at crocheting!
DeleteI'm here! I don't have a blog, but your blog is one of about a dozen that I read regularly. Are you on Goodreads? I like Elin Hilderbrand, Sarah Pekkanen, and Lucy Clarke. I just read three novels by the last one, thrillers, which I have never liked before, but I highly recommend her books!
ReplyDeleteSusan
Susan, I sure do appreciate all your comments, and I feel really honored that I'm one of a few blogs you follow. I'm not in Goodreads, and I actually don't know anything about it! Sounds like something I need to learn more about though! I'd love to start reading books again.
DeleteWell, definitely not coming out lurking, but hi!! I obsess over who reads my blog too. I mean, yes, we do write for ourselves, but if that was the only reason, we'd have journals. We WANT people to read our work because these posts take a lot of work (especially the ones on baby updates!). I am currently struggling with my stupid Facebook page and the fact that less and less people are seeing my posts. It sucks. And I'm like you, the more comments, the better I feel. Sigh. I wish blogging was what it was back in 2013.
ReplyDeleteExactly! I used to write in journals, but it's just not as much fun as having actual people to share our thoughts with. Writing for other people does require a lot more work than just jotting our rambling thoughts on paper, although I'm not as good at proof reading as I once was. It's always a race against the clock to get my posts done before someone wakes up from a nap! Anyway, thanks for being one of my bloggie mommy friends :)
DeleteI'm here.
ReplyDeleteHi Tracie! Thank you so much for letting me know you are here! I really do appreciate it!
DeleteI'm guilty of lurking on your blog...For a little over three years lol. I was pregnant with fraternal twin girls who are close in age to yours when I found your blog. Mine will be 3 in a few weeks. I don't have a blog but found ?Comfort? In reading infertility blogs while on my own journey (was lucky to conceive on my second IUI so not as long as some journeys out there but tough at the time for me). Love keeping up with your twins and their antics and occasionally laughing because my life is so similar some days!
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you so much for reading for so long! I started out in the blog world by reading others going through infertility, so I know exactly what you mean by taking comfort in that. Or maybe a better word is hope? Infertility is tough no matter how long or short the journey is. I'm so happy to hear you were blessed with twins, too! Thank you for letting me know you are out there still reading.
DeleteI had typed up a long comment but Google swallowed it. So just saying I'm here
ReplyDeleteDang! I'm sorry to be missing out on your long comment, but thank you so much for letting me know you're here
DeleteNo lurker here but definitely guilty of not commenting as much since having my little guy. I still read all of your posts though and your kiddos are just the cutest!! Love me some Nicholas Sparks or Emily Giffin.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for still reading and commenting. I definitely know how much harder it to read and comment with a little one keeping you busy! Makes me so happy that you have your little guy now too! I'm not sure if I've ever read Emily Giffin. I'm going to look her up!
DeleteOh and I didn't even know this day even existed! haha
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking, "I wouldn't consider myself a lurker!" except then I tried to remember if I comment ever. lmao
ReplyDeleteI also love Nicholas Sparks and Nora Roberts - will have to check out Julia Quinn!
fun fact about me - I'm OBSESSED with Outlander (both the book and the series) and spend downtime at work googling (and ogling) Jamie Fraser..... ::swoon::
Also - was so bummed when ICLW faded away, glad to hear Mel's doing DeLurking Week!
DeleteI totally occasionally lurk! I sometimes comment. I love getting 'inside' tips on how a more seasoned twin mom handles things <3
ReplyDeleteMy favorite genre of book to read is: Im more of an article reader - if I try pick up a book to read I'll try to finish it in one sitting o.O
My favorite authors are: Nick Sparks
My favorite sports team is: DA BEARS!!
My hobbies are: Im a jack of all trades! But I love writing, photography, art, crafting and building :)
I totally have a blog :p
I don't know about how many inside tips I give, but at the very least we can commiserate on life with twins, right?
DeleteI am EXACTLY like you on reading books!!! If I start a book, I pretty much have to read it until I finish, literally staying up all night. Can't afford to do that anymore when there's two toddlers depending on you! So I read blogs instead.
You are definitely a jack of all trades! I admire how talented you are in so many different areas!
Hi Amber, I am a longtime lurker and occasional commenter on your blog. First found your blog through the 'lost and found' when you had some sad news before your gorgeous twins came along. Now a regular follower - You write beautifully and your children are amazing : )
ReplyDeleteAwww, Jen, that is a wonderful compliment. Thank you so much! I remember that sad time and am so thankful for all the support I found in this blogging community through all of that. Thank you!
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI love to read, mostly chick lit or a good mystery. Goodreads has helped me discover a ton of new authors, but I like Kristin Hannah, Emily Giffin, and Elin Hilderbrand.
I'm not much of a sports fan.
No blog, although I used to have one. But then I discovered I liked reading them more than writing them.
Hobbies: reading, attempting to get healthy, and hanging out with my husband and three kids.
You're the second one to mention Goodreads. I really need to remember to look that up! I do enjoy Kristin Hannah as well, but I need to look into the other two. I'm so glad I asked that question! I love getting book recommendations. Now I just need to make time to actually read every once in awhile. Thanks for reading and commenting!
DeleteI am guilty of reading and not commenting. I have a now 3 year old via IVF who was 9 weeks prem. Your two are lovely and I love to her about how they are doing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting today! I really do appreciate knowing you're out there reading. Isn't life with a 3 year old so fun? And insane all at the same time! lol
DeleteI am guilty of reading and not commenting. I have a now 3 year old via IVF who was 9 weeks prem. Your two are lovely and I love to her about how they are doing.
ReplyDeleteLurker here. Favorite books are biographies but thanks to Amazon free books I have been reading a lot of fiction.
ReplyDeleteFavorite sports teams: Colorado Buffaloes and Denver Broncos.
Hobby: Walking through houses that are being built and going to open houses and show homes.
I read several infertility blogs although I have never tried to get pregnant. We adopted from China by choice - there were girls already here that needed families. I am not sure why I am drawn to infertility blogs, I guess like biographies, I am interested in other people's lives and experiences. I like to cheer on from the sidelines.
I need to know about these Amazing free books! Do you have to have a kindle to access them? I actually really like biographies too. That is wonderful that you adopted. I love that. Thank you so much for reading my blog and taking the time to comment today! It really means a lot to me.
Deletehello! I'm mostly a lurker but have followed your blog since before you got preggo or close to the same time. I'm a friend of Teresa from Bend which is how i started reading yours. I also live in your general area, I think lol, I lost track of your moves. Big Ducks softball fan!!! Though we go to 1 or 2 Beavers games too. I haven't written in my blog for awhile, definitely no excuses, if you can with twin toddlers I should be able to no problem!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Yes, we have moved a lot. Sigh... lol. I love that you are a Ducks softball fan! We are avid Beaver believers, but we do actually follow (and even cheer for - gasp!) the Ducks in softball. Who knows, maybe we've even been at the same game sometime and didn't even know it!!! We currently live in Veneta now. Are you in Eugene?
Deleteyep, we moved from Redmond to Newport and then Eugene in July. My husband coached softball in Redmond and Toledo and upcoming baseball at Springfield. I got softball season tix this year for the Ducks!
ReplyDeleteNice! We will most likely go to a few games, but it's hard with the twins because they don't want to sit still for that long. Or at all. lol. When I coached softball at Central, my assistant coach was from Redmond. She may have played for your husband! Such a small world.
DeleteI am a lurker with b/g twins via egg donation - they're 2&3/4, and so much fun to be around. I'm in New Zealand, so it's summer here and your snow photos look very tempting!
ReplyDeleteWe have very similar stories then! I don't know how much of my back story you have read, but my b/g twins are via egg donation as well. And just turned 3, so close in age too! I love the snow, but it's not as fun when it turns to ice. Now we're just waiting for it to melt!
DeleteLisa from Australia - frequent reader, occasional commentor. We have 7yo twins via surrogacy. The surrogacy blog community fizzled to nothing so I started reading infertility blogs instead. Love reading romance (incl paranormal) and grab whatever my local library has. Off work for a month (it's summer school holidays here) so have been staying up late catching up with Jane the Virgin - lol funny. Then napping in the afternoon. One of the many benefits of my kiddos growing up way too fast. Love being reminded of the type of antics they got up to when they were younger by following where your two are up to.
ReplyDeleteThat's really too bad the the surrogacy blog community fizzled out. There has to still be a need. I'm so thankful for the infertility blogging community though! I'm not familiar with Jane the Virgin. I'm all for a good comedy! I'm seriously going to have to go back through this comment thread and write all these things down so I can look them up!
DeleteDe-lurking here!
ReplyDeleteMelissa! So happy to hear from you! Thanks for de-lurking! :)
