Two years ago, our team was in Chattanooga, TN which was absolutely amazing and then last summer in Alabama. I've also been to Georgia. I have loved every place I've been to in the south.Amberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16507432917936364757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8819142186663515584.post-54860128980275964152013-01-22T08:29:26.458-08:002013-01-22T08:29:26.458-08:00For us living so far away from the heart of where ...For us living so far away from the heart of where all this took place, it was an amazing eye opener to the fact that it was really so current! Unfortunately, I don't know if racism will ever completely be gone, but I am SO thankful it is not nearly as bad as it was. But then again, I don't live in the south, so maybe I still have blinders on.Amberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16507432917936364757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8819142186663515584.post-28807858892184045072013-01-22T08:25:04.031-08:002013-01-22T08:25:04.031-08:00It was an amazing experience! It was an amazing experience!Amberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16507432917936364757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8819142186663515584.post-42902305027899987312013-01-22T07:09:35.167-08:002013-01-22T07:09:35.167-08:00Wow. When I was in 9th grade, our family traveled from Boston to Washington, DC, and back, stopping at lots of the usual touristy stops, but we didn't get any further south than DC. Maybe someday DH and I can hit the South and catch up on that part of our country's history.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04378983636614183897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8819142186663515584.post-59800884847489485932013-01-21T22:24:02.355-08:002013-01-21T22:24:02.355-08:00I love that you were able to experience that.
Peo...I love that you were able to experience that.

People act like the Civil Rights movement was so very long ago and therefore, not really relevant to our lives in the here and now, but they're wrong. I live in Memphis (where Dr. King was unfortunately killed) and still see quite a bit of the racism that these people fought against. It's better than it was, but it definitely not gone. (It's not just the African Americans treated horribly, either.)
